Originally from China, GeXuan An is a Los Angeles–based film composer whose music blends orchestral richness and electronic sound design. She began writing music in 2013 and later earned her Bachelor’s degree in Composition and Film Scoring from Musicians Institute in Hollywood. GeXuan earned her Master’s degree in Scoring for Visual Media from the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University, where she was awarded a merit-based scholarship for artistic excellence.

Her diverse background allows her to seamlessly bridge Eastern musical sensibilities with the Western film-scoring tradition. Her work spans a wide range of short and feature-length films, and she has been profiled by media outlets for her distinctive voice as a composer. Known for her strong work ethic and collaborative spirit, GeXuan approaches each project with dedication and sensitivity, crafting emotionally resonant scores that blend organic and electronic textures while serving the story with authenticity and depth.

GeXuan is currently working on the score for her first feature film, weaving together orchestral and electronic textures to portray the emotional journeys of minority voices.

MUSICAL STYLE

As a media composer, GeXuan approaches every project with a deep understanding of storytelling and emotional architecture. Her work spans a wide range of genres, including drama, thriller, horror, comedy, action, musical and animation. She fluently blends orchestral, electronic, and jazz elements, creating sound worlds that can shift from intimate minimalism to large-scale cinematic grandeur. GeXuan has extensive experience with both live orchestral and jazz recordings, as well as hybrid scores combining acoustic and synthesized textures.
